This was a enjoyable story with sweet romance, a bit of heat, wonderful characters, suspense and an honest look at the life of a broken soldier after he gets sent home. Shannon is a strong, independent woman, and she needs to be to put up with the crass, brooding dark cloud on wheels that is ex-Marine John Palmer. After dealing with a stalker ex-boyfriend, Shannon is on the mend an building a life for herself in Colorado, landing a job as an office manager for the LnF Agency - a group of ex-soldiers, most of them physically disabled, who offer security and investigation consulting and services. John is a man still struggling to cope after losing the use of his legs after a Humvee accident in Iraq. With no family to fall back on, John forms a bond with several men at the agency, but he still prefers his solitude and admittedly hates people. When Shannon begins to show interest without seeming to care about his disability, John must learn to trust himself and his heart. As Shannon becomes the center of an investigation that might be her stalker ex-boyfriend, John and Shannon find themselves in close quarters and trust becomes a necessity. When Shannon offers John more than friendship, John quickly realizes that while his legs may be numb, his heart certainly isn't. I am looking forward to continuing this series.
